Levski started successfully the new season in domestic championship. In the first round of the championship they beat with Yambol at home by the score 76-69. The players of coach Titi Papazov turned the game in their favor in the second half. Next saturday Levski will visit Pravets to play against Lukoil Academic for the derby of National league.
Levski scored 6 points early in the match, then the guests responded with the same series to tied the game at 6-6. Both teams exchange baskets before Levski to pull up to 17-10. However Yambol finished the first quarter of the game and were able to get a seven points lead at the end of it - 28-21.
Second quarter started with a two pointer by american John Ofoegbu which turn the lead up to 9 points in favor of the visitors - 30-21. Levski responded well and in the fourth minute they tied the score with 2 points of their best scorer in this game Aaron Harper. The players of coach Papazov got a 6 points lead thanks to a few fast breaks and with a successful 3-point shot by former player of Yambol - Dimitar Anguelov they managed a 9 points first half lead - 47-38.
Throughout the third quarter Levski maintained his lead, the difference got into double digit - after 30 minutes of play 63-51 for the home team. In the last ten minutes of the game Levski was up by the same digit for most of the time. However the guests made a good run and with minute and 18 seconds left on the clock they cut it to only 5 points. Anguelov then scored two free throws, which proved to be the last points in the match and Levski registered their first win in domestic league for the season.
Harper finished with 25 points while other american Marcus Hall scored 22 and Hrisimir Dimitrov managed 10 points.
For the visiting team from Yambol Martin Durchev finished with 23 points, John Ofoegbu added 19 points and Julian Radionov was very productive with 9 points, 10 assists and 5 stolen balls.
