Levski eliminated Yambol and reached the FinalMay 16, 2012
Levski is once again finalist in the National Basketball League. In very even game 4 of their series against Yambol they fought hard to grab important victory which ended the series in their favor by the score 3-1. Levski reached the final against Lukoil and will battle for gold medals in the league in the country. The players of coach Konstantin Papazov won today's match in "Diana" in Yambol by the score 89-87 and next Tuesday will start the final series against Lukoil Academic in Pravets. The final is best of five as the winner in the final series will be champion of Bulgaria for season 2011/12.
The match was pretty even throughout the whole game, few times Levski had advance by 6-7 points, while the players of Yambol always were able get the right answer to get back in the game. Finally it was Aaron Harper from Levski, who took over in the last minutes and decided the game in favor of his team. He scored the last basket 3 seconds before the end while in his last attack Yambol failed to get a shot - final score 89-87 in Levski favor meaning that they closed the series and qualified for the final.
Harper made 38 points, 20 of which in the second half. Chavdar Kostov came off the bench to finish with 14 points while Marcus Hall and Hrisimir Dimitrov scored 11 apiece.
For Yambol Martin Durchev was top scorer with 29 points and Stanislav Govedarov added 25.
The first two games of the final series with Lukoil Academic will be played at the Sports complex in Pravets, while games 3 and 4 will be in "Universiada" in Sofia. If it comes to the last, fifth, decisive match, it will be in Pravets again. The official program of the final series will be announced tomorrow. |
