One half enough for easy away win for LevskiFebruary 11, 2012
The Men’s team of Levski won their last test before tha start of the Cup of Bulgaria for this season 2011/12. They played away in Pleven against Spartak and were able to recorded their victory number 15 in the championship after an easy 96-74 in their favor. At the half time Levski led by only a single point but after the break mini series of 16-0 was crucial for the final outcome. After that point Levski had all the control in the game and without any problems won with huge difference of plus 22 points. This was the final game for the club before the Cup of the country, which will start next Wednesday in Samokov. They rival in the first game will be Balkan Botevgrad, while most likely in the semifinals Levski will face the host of the tournament – Rilski sportist from Samokov.
As usual the home team from Pleven rely for most of the time on their shooting from three-point area. They had 39 shots behind that line but only 10 of them were succesfull. On the opposite side Levski had 32 field goals for 2 points and also as team they showed a good percentage from the free throw line- - 20 of 26 successful attempts from the charity stripe. Thanks to the Vasil Evtimov Levski dominated on both ends of the floor - 40 vs. 28 rebounds in their favor and all those points were keys for another success of the visiting team.
Aaron Harper was the best scorer with his 21 points as he also grabbed 8 rebounds. Vasil Evtimov registered another double-double - 20 points and 13 rebounds while other two americans in blue uniform Jarrett Howell and Marcus Hall finished with 10 respectively 14 points.
For the hosts Iliya Stankov was top scorer with 17, Vesselin Georgiev added 16 and Tsvetoslav Ostrev ended with 15 points.
Immediately after the Cup of Bulgaria in Samokov Levski will visit Chernomorets in Burgas. The meeting is on February 25 in "Boycho Branzov" hall in Burgas while right after that Levski will play at home versus Rilski Sportist Samokov.
