Men’s team of Levski achieved their tenth consecutive victory over Cherno More Varna. This happened at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, where Levski were visitors in round number 21 of the local championship. The meeting was very even and after several exchanges of leadership at the end Levski were slightly better by the score 82-78. This was their 17th victory of the club with 4 losses so far. With that record Levski continue to be at second place in the standings of the NBL.
Levski controlled the game for most of the first half. They started better and in the middle of the first quarter the lead was already in double-digits- 18-8 in their favor. Home team reduced to 28-21 at the end of first quarter. In the last minute of the second part of Cherno More even managed to equalize. However three pointer by Harper in the last seconds of first half gave 3 points lead at the break - 40-37.
In the second half the crowd in Varna witnessed a constant exchange of baskets that led to a dramatic final. For little change with the Cup final in Samokov, where Jarrett Howell failed with three points shot to decide the outcome of the game, he did it the right way this time in Varna. Cherno More led by single point but Howell scored a decisive shot behind the three point line that brought his team up for good. Cherno more had their chance but turn the ball over and Levski were able to close the game at 82-78.
Aaron Harper scored the most points once again and finished with 24 points. He added 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Vassil Evtimov finished with a new double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Dimitar Angelov and Jarrett Howell ended with 10.
For the hosts Vasil Kiossev scored 18 points.
Next Saturday Levski will face Yambol on their own court beofre to get another shot to beat Lukoil Academic this season in “Universiada” hall in Sofia week later.
