One of Levski's projected opponents in the first season of the Balkan International Basketball League (Group B) - the team of Strumica from F.Y.R. of Macedonia - has been dropped. The Sports Director of the tournament Mr. Shay Shtriks confirmed that the club, which was given a wild card at the beginning of June, will not be allowed to take part in the competition.BC Strumica 2005 got a deadline until today to solve its financial problems, as it was announced yesterday. "The final decision is that we can't risk anymore", said Mr. Shtriks, who added earlier, that this doesn't mean, that another team from F.Y.R. of Macedonia will replace Strumica. "Most probably we will have a third club from Bulgaria", commented BIBL's Sports Director.
The new team has to fill in the spot, which is left empty in Group B - together with Levski Sofia, Dinamo Bucharest, Fersped Rabotnicki, Mega Aqua Monta and one team from Greece. In Group A are: Euroins Cherno More, Rapid Bucharest, Radnicki 034 Group, Feni Industries, Swisslion Takovo and a Greek team.
